priceless. my one objection to track and field and cross country. even besides the excessive running of long distance. however, I didn't mind watching the girls run.

Re: Classic Rip (collection of quotes, many hilarious, many NOT w/f/s)

Question:

Whenever i do dips, the second i let go of the bar it feels like a ton of pressure was just taken off my shoulders and upper pecs. Do you know what causes this and what i can do about it?

Thanks.

Answer:

Perhaps you weigh 2000 lbs., in which case your perception would be remarkably accurate. Otherwise, you're probably just happy to be through with the set. The remedy would be to never let go of the bar, but that is impractical. I suppose I don't understand your question.

Re: Classic Rip (collection of quotes, many hilarious, many NOT w/f/s)

question
Since numbness is a loss of feeling. Is "numbness feeling a little less" the loss of even more feeling?

answer
Believe it or not, there are actually degrees of numbness. And dumbness.

on the ************ forums:

poster: one day i will be performing the squat faultless in everyway possible and even you will not be able to help say... "that squat is unbelievably perfect"

rip: I eagerly anticipate this occasion. I will go ahead and buy and expensive bottle of wine.

Re: Classic Rip (collection of quotes, many hilarious, many NOT w/f/s)

Question:
I read an article that says a small impact on the chest has a small chance of causing a heart attack. I do a small bounce off my chest on bench press if I'm really straining on the final 1-2 reps, so is that ok? I don't want to sound like a kook who believes everything he hears but I'm just wondering if this applies.

Answer:
Yes, it applies: you are apparently a kook who believes that an event with a high level of statistical improbability is nonetheless worth posting about. You're much more likely to be eaten by pigs. If this affects the quality of your sleep, sorry.

Re: Classic Rip (collection of quotes, many hilarious, many NOT w/f/s)

in answer

The low-bar squats look better than fine. So I guess your hip situation is not really a problem. So let's talk about the titty bars in Atlanta. Are they as good as everybody says? I really don't go to titty bars that often, almost never actually, since it seems too much like going to an expensive restaurant, sitting down, reading the menu for a couple of hours, spending a bunch of money on tea, and leaving without eating. Don't you agree?

btw... HAPPY BIRTHDAY COACH RIP!!!

Worth reading: Rippetoe's responses to the following questions:

NOT wfs for language

Ok, I know that some folks find it challenging to put down a gallon of milk every day. Sometimes that tall glass of cold delicious cow squeezin's just doesn't look all that appealing by the end of the day.

So Mr. Rippetoe - what do you think about getting at least some of the GOMAD by drinking Starbucks lattes? I believe a venti sugar free latte contains about 20 ounces of milk - it would only take 7 such refreshing beverages to hit that gallon mark, by my reckoning.

The only problem is persuading the folks behind the counter that YES, you want sugar free and NO, you do NOT want skim milk.

Might wearing a weighted vest while squatting create a more effective load than squatting alone? I realize the vest wouldn't stress the body in the same proportions as the bar, but it seems possible that the scattered distribution of small weights over the sides, back, chest and waist wouldn't infringe much, (if at all), on what can be lifted on my back.
