Throat injury: hit neck when doing a clean

Good news was really did a good job with 2nd pull. Bad news was a brain cramp caused me to catch weight of the bar (140#) on the way up just to the right of my adam's apple.

Within 30 minutes my voice was gravelly, similar to having a sinus infection. Slight pain/discomfort to the touch but not too bad. This was Monday a.m.

Got a little better each day but last night almost felt a pop/snap when eating. Swallowing is now more painful. Voice is slightly altered still.

Thoughts? I know recent case of USC running back dropping weight from a bench press was serious, required surgery and he almost died.

I will seriously tell all to avoid thumbless/suicide grip on bench in the future for sure

You may want to run this by a throat specialist or something along those lines... Otolaryngologist that is...

Though, as long as it's improving everyday you might be OK as long as you don't have the pop/snap with painful swallowing. Might be some issues with the hyoid, cartilage or the muscles around it.

It's been slowly improving. This weekend didn't talk as much which helped. No pain swallowing after that 1 night. Still some roughness to my voice (like a sinus infection) but improving.

If no relapses likely won't go see doc - if I do need, will try otolaryngologist (throat). Thanks.
