Earl - this is from the FAQ section...

3.1. What's the best substitute for rope climbing?
Towel pullups is the consensus best substitute. For more realism, alternate one hand high, one hand low on the towel. Some folks do towel pulldowns, as well. Standard rope length is 15', and standard substitution is 15 towel pulls.

Note that the link to powerathletesmag.com is family & work-safe. It ought to be, Tyler Hass created it!

Thanks for posting that, Mark, and please, include that designation (family and/or work safe (or *not*, if it's not)) with future links.

Cargo-net climbing or climbing down a, err, umm...well it's a line at an angle anchored at two points. You hold a rope or handle and you go from one side to the other. We used to climb from one side to the other or under bars or beams. Sloth walks or something.

I'm not sure this would directly apply, but maybe spider walks. It seems very similar to climbing. Basically get into a prone position with flexed arms. Stay off the ground as low as possible. The legs do the same. One limb at a time, reach out and pull yourself to the limb, then doing the same with the other. The legs

Think spiderman on the floor. I eventually want to get to doing this on my fingertips or thumb and 1 or 2 fingers since I met a guy would could do it.
