Re: Is this a muscle up?

IMO, no. but not because of the unique "kip," but rather because he does not start with straight arms, thus no full ROM. How far back you can go to kip is too grey of an area to bother trying to judge.

for that matter, he did not lock out the deadlifts, nor did he reach full hip extension on the cleans (dropped the bar right before he's fully standing on every rep).

I don't want to bash the guy... he's obviously very strong (much stronger than me or most CF'ers for that matter), and he's clearly capable of full ROM on all movements. but if it were a judged competition he'd be no-repping almost every movement... slop in the name of "for time." I'm impressed with his abilities, but disappointed in his sportsmanship.

Re: Is this a muscle up?

Sure why not? I mean it's not games standard and it looks very similar to a roll to support but he gets himself from below the rings to support above them. For someone who I'm assuming had never done a muscle up prior to that workout, I would call them legit. However, that wouldn't fly at Regionals/the Games.

Re: Is this a muscle up?

This mans speed on the cleans is insane. He's picking up 275 like there is nothing on the bar. So beautiful and fluid.

Just goes to show how awesome olympic weightlifters are.

Re: Is this a muscle up?

That guy looked like he was playing with toys. He just monkey gripped 500 like it was nothing. The full ROM would have only added a few seconds onto that time. Those cleans were RIDICULOUS!

Re: Is this a muscle up?

I believe a gymnast would call that a front uprise to support.
