low fat avacado??
was shopping over the weekend and saw a sign for a "new" and improved avacado.
50% less fat and 35% less calories this thing had the outside skin of an avacado but was the size of a soft ball. kind of sad that some company would spend the time and money to take something that is good for you and make it not so good for you. i think i will be sticking with my high fat avacado's thank you very much. |

Conversely, we have bred our fruits to be much sweeter than they used to be... if you ever have a banana in Tanzania, you'll see what I mean!

Sounds like the "lite" coconut milk Trader Joe's and other places sell. They advertise it as 66% fewer calories or something like that, when all they did was cut regular coconut milk with water yet they still sell it as the same price as pure coconut milk. If I'm buying coconut milk I'm getting it for the good fats and MCTs, not so I can limit my fat intake.

Re: low fat avacado??
There is nothing new or improved about those avocados. It's just a marketing gimmick to try and sell more of certain varieties of avocados typically grown in Florida that are naturally lower in fat and calories (by weight anyway, the Florida ones have more fat/calories per fruit because they are quite large compared to Hass avocados).

Re: low fat avacado??
From what I've been told, Florida avocados taste terrible. Granted, I've never actually had one.

Re: low fat avacado??
This is funny because the only reason I eat avocados is for fat.

Re: low fat avacado??
yeah I got one of those strange avacado's and I think it was labeled as slimcado or something else equaling strange. It tasted bland and just not right. Never got another.
