I know that it is recommended that you kinda take it easy for the first month, but my tendency is to start out with good intentions, but end up pushing myself too hard anyway. Needless to say, I feel like I have been hit by a truck. My "old" fitness philosophy said not to work out if you are too sore because you would be overtraining. What is the crossfit take on that? Active recovery for a day or so? 4 days on two days off? Eat ibuprofen like they are m&m's? Suck it up, quit whinin' and get to work?

Last choice...unless you are really trashed then do some active recovery, the last time I "needed" some active recovery instead of a WOD I just did the WOD at half reps or half rounds (can't remember, but you get the idea)...did the trick, firing on all cylinders the next day.

Sore is a fact of life, just for your amusement I've been sore at various places continuously for about a week now.

Jim, you'll need to develop the ability to differentiate between "sore" and "injured"/"verging on injured". I'm on board with Graham...it's pretty much a suck it up place around here.

I think I'm gonna like it around here. That old fitness philosophy never really suited my "type A" personality anyway.

whenever I'm sore, I just try to suck it up and train unless I am physically unable to move or whatever.
