Ok, so my contract in Madison fell through. I am now set to move to Portland. I start at OHSU on Sep 12 or so for a three month contract.

What is the story on the affiliates there. Crossfit HEL vs CF Portland?

Any other cool gyms there? What about rugby?

I should know in the next couple of days exactly where I'll be living.

Looks like CF Portland, and StraitBlastGym are pretty close to my place of employment.
CF portland looks like they have all the things I will need(oly bar, weights, pullup bar, med balls, C2)

Having never done any MA before, I might give some of the straightblast beginner courses a look. I just can't see myself going the Fung Fu route(CF Portland is at a Kung Fu gym).

I met Scotty at an Olympic lifting meet in Sumner, WA last year. Really nice guy and his recipes in Performance Menu are great. Also, if you ever get the itch to drive north of Portland, there are 5 CF affliates (2 in Pierce County, 2 in King County and one in Skagit County) Plus, John Thrush, a great Olympic lifting coach, is in Sumner. Just FYI.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

Pierce County is Tacoma, right?(CFPC-Eugene Allen and another affiliate?)

I think King County is Seattle.(CF Eastside and Ranier CF, CF North)

These counties are hard to keep straight. But after looking at the map, they are all very close, and I will have to make some time to get to all of them hopefully.

Come on up, Andy! The PacNW is turning into a CF hotbed.

And we haven't even talked about what our Canuckian friends are up to just a couple hours north of Seattle.

Rainier CrossFit is in Pierce County too. We are in Puyallup. About 10-15 minutes from downtown Tacoma. Come up for a Saturday sometime.

I'll be driving out in a week or two. Cross country from Nashville to Portland. Bringing my rings, my parallettes, and my D-ball with me.
