Re: The Erin Experiment

FRIDAY, 12/4/09

Rested... but did a lot of walking. Not enough sleeping. Harumph.

SATURDAY, 12/5/09

"Lumberjack 20" at CrossFit KoP

20 Deadlifts (135lbs) - should have gone heavier here - I hit 12 reps straight and pretty quickly.
Run 400m
20 KB swings (1.5pood)
Run 400m
20 Overhead Squats (75lbs)
Run 400m
20 Burpees
Run 400m
20 Pullups (Chest to Bar)
Run 400m
20 Box jumps (21")
Run 400m
20 DB Squat Cleans (25lbs in each hand)
Run 400m

36:25

Everything rx'd except for deads...and OH MY... this was horrid. Seized up a lot on the last round after squat cleans and I really need to acclimate myself to swinging the 1.5 pood. Met a lot of amazing women at CrossFit KOP though - would really like to train with them more often. I feel like I would be a much better athlete for it.

Fun times driving back in the snow too! AND afterwards - best cheat meal in a while - Five Guys mushroom and onion burger with fries (and yes I ate ABSOLUTELY all of it).

Tomorrow I think I'll probably be deadlifting again... the motivating factor being watching Aimee Lyons and Denise Thomas repping 185 like my 135. CRAZY.

SUNDAY, 12/13/09

CF Hoboken Winter challenge

Event 1
5 Clean and Jerks (135/73)
7 Burpees
7 Rounds For time

9:07

Event 2
10 Ring Dips (Chest to Floor Push-Ups for Women, done like an easy burpee)
20 Air Squats
Amrap in 10 minutes

10 + 6

Event 3
1500 meter Row
For time

6:47

Definitely could have done better... but I did reach a few of my goals. Came in 16th place out of 20 something rx'd women. LOOOOOT of work to do. My first round of the C+J was crazy fast. Right before I started a dude walked by me, pointed at me and said sub 4. Ha! If my first round were even close to my 7th that might be a possibility... but I have no air. I was in UTTER pain by the end of the WOD.

Had a talk with Denise T. about this today and I've really NO idea if it's mental or just physical metcon I need work on but I think it can't hurt to just work on it and find out. There's such a clear distinction between the way I feel during competition and the way I feel in training - I've got to attempt to merge the two.

Re: The Erin Experiment

SUNDAY, 12/13/09

Legs tired. Really tired.

At Open Gym:

Muscle Up Practice with Denise - tried wrist wraps cause the wrists are hurting... No muscle-ups today...but did work strength through the transition with the really light, and light band. Ring dips are exhausted.

Max Reps in 3 minutes of 145lb (roughly bodyweight) backsquat.

23 (8, 4, 5, 4, 2)

Will do this again next Sunday - it will be better. Need to get more out of each set. Rest only twice maybe.

50 1.5 pood KBS (American)
everytime I stop - a 250m Row

15, 10, 10, 10 (ugh) 5.

Lowest time for 250m was 1:04, highest was 1:07

Took me 12:23

More things I need to get good at! And - I'm going to use this format for WODs more often. It's purty motivating.

Re: The Erin Experiment

TUESDAY, December 15, 2009

Exhausted. Haven't been eating as well as I would like. Stress and time keeping me from cooking - also shopping for everyone else's Christmas presents. And so it goes.

Quality time with Tennis Ball on Shoulders/Delts/specifically this one spot that's been bothering me for a while that Doc Val took a look at. Also pretty much a whole second session's worth of sitting a tennis ball on my glutes/hamstrings. Good stuff if you've never done it.

5 x 3 pronated grip deadhangs (my weak grip)

Tabata Ring Supports - had to fall a BUNCH of times. Really strange feelings in my delts/pecs.

Wanted to do more and didn't... cause my legs feel VERY bound up right now. Deadlifting and maybe somethin' else tomorrow.

It is good to take it easy when you break the body down. Recovery is important.

PS What did you get me?
