I'm not ****ed or anything, just wondering. Basically, I'm sure while I ordered from Glenn (needed the bar as well), the bumpers were drop-shipped from Wright.
Maybe this will clear it up...

I am currently performing my due diligence in regards to my bumper purchase.

I spoke with Glenn yesterday (~1pm CST 4/24/2008) he indicated that with his "packages" he is not selling the "Hi-Temp" plates any longer. He indicated the plates he sells now are excellent quality and very durable. But the finish on the plates is smoother (his words) than the hi-temp plates he formally sold. There maybe other differences that we did not discuss (i.e. ring insert).

Just when I thought I had this whole which-bumpers-to-buy thing figured out.

Tell me about it I think I spent less time when considering my housing purchase. I am currently pricing out ordering direct from Hi-temp, when they give me the shipping quote I will report back.

Re: Bumper Confusion

When I get them I certainly will add my review to let's compare bumpers....

I got the price quote from Hi-Temp....

10 lb, 25 lb, 35 lb and 45 lb bumpers... The bumpers are $1/pound

20 + 50 + 70 + 90 = 230 lbs ... $230 for hi-temp plates

shipping costs to 60148 area code = $90.97

$230 + $90.97 = $320.97 for bumpers only

Getting the Pendlay HD (high density) Economy bar is
$219.00 + $35.44 (S&h) = $254.44 for bar

In discussing this with Glenn the HD bar is the same as the Crossfit discount bar except it is made with stronger steel and less likely to bend etc. I already have 2 bent bars at home I do not need a 3rd. The HD bar is not on his site right now but if you call him he will discuss it.

Total cost bar+ bumpers and shipping is.... $575.41

Carlos:

How long ago did you get yours? It sounds as if (from the other thread) Glenn may have switched manufacturers.

Re: Bumper Confusion

Chris, thanks for the link to the hi temp photos

Now itís becoming clear, Glenn also told me that his bumpers have brass inserts when I talked to him a while back, thatís why I had trouble understanding how Carlos got the steel inserts. He must have just switched brands.

On another note, through some extensive research I spoke to the company that bought the old Chapman bumper plate molds today (before Chapman the same molds were used to produce RB Rubber plates). If you ask around people will tell you that the Chapman plates were awesome, and this new company made some further improvements on the molds. They are going to send me out a pair of 25's to test drive, and they should be here by next week

As of recent they have got their kilo line up and running and 25's, 35's, and 45's in lbs. They said there 10lb and 5kg training plates along with a color options probably won't be available until 2009 (they are in the midst of developing a quality training plate that won't bend like the kraiburg types). Anyway, the company name is Malmgren Heavyweights and they don't have a web site yet but it should be up by this weekend. I will post a review of the 25's once I get them. Prices are competitive too. If anyone ends up being interested in purchasing their bumpers tell them I sent you and they will hook you up.

Re: Bumper Confusion

Has anyone seen or heard anything about the MuscleDriver bumpers that are supposed to come out this summer? The picture on their website looks pretty sweet http://www.muscledriverusa.com/oltrbupl.html (wfs).
