Better to just remove the computer and go by time?
You can get replacement parts for this. Try:
http://www.fitnessrepairparts.com/eq...irdyne-AD3-AD4
http://www.krislynn.net/catalog/index.php
http://www.thefind.com/sports/browse...-airdyne-parts
(all safe for work links)
also Ebay...

And if you can't find the part you need, just duck tape the thing so the batteries don't fall out! It's certainly better to train with the computer, because you get all that data.

Re: Let's talk Airdyne!!

if he's talking about the same airdyne i got, there is no way to tape the batteries in because the housing for the batteries is built into the door that's missing.

this is what it looks like;

for $2 at radio shack, i got a 2c battery holder and wired it in. i plan on soldering the wires on but i'm at work so I can't really do that now.

Re: Let's talk Airdyne!!

I've been looking around for an airdyne or fan bike or whatever and have come across a few, but does brand matter? I mean Air Assault or Schwinn would be great, but there are a bunch of cheaper looking ones out there too. Worth my time or keep looking?

I think it's really like the whole rower thing. Sure there are other options, but Concept 2 seems to be the measuring stick.

Re: Let's talk Airdyne!!

I just got my new Assault Bike last night and took it for a quick spin. There is definitely a difference between it and the AD's I have owned.

I did have one older Comp model that would have been similar and it was a lot more robust. My only concern was the one belt drive. I have no idea whether i could replace it or not.

Regardless, the Assault Bike has much better pedal assemblies etc. it will outlast me for sure. Very much so along the lines of the C2 rower.

Re: Let's talk Airdyne!!

Not entirely sure if it's an AD3 or AD4, but I scored a nice Airdyne for $20 last week. Needs a little cleaning, but otherwise good to go.
