Re: The Dead-Hang Pull-up Society

I have to watch for tendon pain in the forearm as it gets stronger. And make sure you watch for pulling w/ your back..that's was a big move for me - when the lats kick in. So try to focus on that also.

I'm not eligible to be in this group but its awesome to see people embracing pullups.

I wish more folk like you filled the typical globo gyms.

Thanks, Anu. Arms felt OK - - just puny all over. Think I caught my wife's bug. Feel a bit better this morning, but am really tired and have been running a slight fever. Washed the car last night - - it was an aerobic activity! Definitely not OK.

Thanks, Delita. The "Society" is AWESOME!

You are so right on, Anu. I'm lucky I seem to (at this stage) have no problem with my grip strength or forearms hurting. If I am careful to focus on my lats, it really makes a difference. They are so weak right now........

Joseph, I am noticing a lot more folks at my globo using the pull-up bars. There are several who seem to be doing the CF thing, but others who simply are moving away from the gravitron to try the bar. Pretty inspiring!

Re: The Dead-Hang Pull-up Society

I got my pull up bar today! It's the one that goes between door jambs that just screws on. And now, I have to fight w/ my girls to get to the bar. They've already put a footstool in the doorway and keep running to try it!! My older can do 1 deadhang. My younger can't yet and we're all GTG'ing!

Anu,

Sweet! It's really cool that your kids are so enthused. That is so difficult these days what with the funding issues for schools and "relaxed" attitute about physical fitness.

O yeah!! They do gymnastics so they are all about handstands and cartwheels and chin holds, etc. In fact, when I was learning to a handstand, they'd do them w/ me. It makes for a lot of fun and goofing around and a good time altogether.

Re: The Dead-Hang Pull-up Society

Hey Everyone! I don't qualify for membership but I will be watching your progress and cheering you on!!!

I couldn't do one dead hang when I started CF back in April... Sometime over the course of a lot of GTGing on the assisted pull-up machine and with bands I've gotten up to 8!

You all rock! Keep up the good work!

I have been working my Jumping P/U's and a lots of negatives. Also just for good measure I try to spend some time each session swinging from the bar to practice my KIP motion. I get a little closer each time. I think I am going to look into one of those huge rubber bands.

I've got the Iron Woody bands and they are great - until I was told by my globo gym that I can't bring them in coz they're not provided by them and they won't provide them either.

Anu, have you talked with the gym manager/owner? Just because they don't provide them is no reason they should not allow you to bring yours in. Do they allow members to bring in lifting straps (to wrap around the bars for heavy shrugs, DLs, etc.) or lifting gloves? Using the bands is no different. If they don't allow you to use them, perhaps it's time to find another gym..........especially if their trainers don't know what they're talking about (IMHO).
