Workouts after illness
I've been sick for a week now. In bed for 4 days. I've read through some of the threads on working out while sick and decided my system had enough to deal with so I haven't been training at all.
Now I'm starting to feel better, but definitely not 100%. How does one ease back in to things so that I don't end up making things worse again? Also, is there a greater risk of overtraining when you first get back after an illness? |

Re: Workouts after illness
You need to purposely scale down the intesity. Any energy your using to workout, is not going to be spent healing.

Re: Workouts after illness
Think cortisol--its your main stress hormone in the body. If you drain it when you work out, it ont be available to help you with healing!! If you are unsure, I would advice waiting a few more days. or try this WOD for time--
Rest 1 hr Take a hot bath Read a good book while drinking tea Use the restroom Eat a good meal....Think nourishing foods like chicken soup! I think you get the idea... |

I'm in the same boat. I'm going to give it a go today though. Something not to rough.

Re: Workouts after illness
Just found this thread with search. I've been rockin' a nearly 103 degree fever for several days and now I have this old man wheeze cough thing going on and haven't worked out for over five days. I was hoping I'd find threads saying go ahead and workout to tell my wife it would be okay, but alas, I've been defeated.
