Crossfit Documentary

Hello Everyone!

I train at Petranek Fitness in Santa Monica and have been watching (and sharing in) the growth/inspiration/amazing feats of strength for about 10 months and I feel that there is a story to be told about the achievements made at Crossfit facilities everywhere.

Here’s the question… would you like the rest of the world to know how revolutionary Crossfit is?

Here are some details:

I’ve chosen several personalities to follow thru the year but not all are finalized.

I believe there is a natural sports themed story (not dissimilar to ROCKY or other underdog movies) that will naturally connect with the audience.

It’s intended to be a docu movie that can enjoyed by non-corssfitters however the community will surely love it.

I have an Emmy winning reporter (Dawn Forrester) agreeing to be the interviewer

I have the director

This is planned to be a festival movie that could eventually get distribution. Think HOOP DREAMS or SUPER SIZE ME.

What I need:

Investors: Plain and simple I need to raise at least $50K to represent our community properly.

More stories – who do you know that is really inspirational? A 70 yr old grandmother that could squat 200#? A average man who now looks/performs like an athlete? A mother who has changed her life and maybe the lives of others since joining the community? Someone doing the Fran in under 2:00? Someone similar to Connor Martin in age/ability?

More videos – I need stuff on tape because I cannot meet everyone in person however if something stands out I will consider traveling to YOU.

Tech people – anyone with the ability to work for nothing.

Tell your friends about this – the more people know the better.

I will not blow smoke up your butt the chances of making any money back is slim. The hours will be long and this will take at least 18 months to put together.

Cool idea, and if it's done well could be a huge boost for all the affiliates. We've got several folks that fit the "normal" guy turned athlete. All in a very short time. We've only been in operation for a year and we've already seen changed lives. Also, it's not just the fitness aspect that should be looked at. This community is an amazing thing. The affiliates themselves become small communities as well that does not happen at the big box gyms.

You might want to talk with Diablo CrossFit's Rob Barnum. He's a film producer and owns a film distribution company (Anywhere Road). You can reach him at rob@diablocrossfit.com.

Good luck!

Re: Crossfit Documentary

Everyone,

I've had a ton of emails and the energy for this is awesome....

Some notes if you want to be part of this experiment (AKA Documentary):

Make a good video - sound is very important but mostly it has to been seen on a 40 foot-by-70 foot mocie screen. So if you do a 1:59 FRAN and it looks like it was hot in a cave it can't be shown.

cover some time - video or photos that cover at least 6 months will be best to show progress.

show your personality - have fun, act out, be outragous if that's who you really are.

Best,
John

again - email me at johnburch@hotmail.com to get involved!
