I found this video jaw dropping, kinda random but just wondering if anyone else has heard of "Free running" or does this along with crossfit?
For some reason thought this would be a video some fellow cross fitters would enjoy..

Seems like a good hobby or club...

Hi Matt:

"Free Running" has close cousin known as "Parkour" (French origins). There are philosophical distinctions between the two activities (movements?), but none that matter much to most observers. They are both about having a gas as you move across the territory.

Our own Jesse Woody is one of the leading American proponents; check out his website at:

Jesse is also a CrossFit trainer in the Washington DC area.

I gotta give props to our resident Free Running expert at Valley Crossfit, Paul Darnell. You probably saw his entry for Ninja Warrior recently (

Anyway, he's a Class-A guy, one of the best people I've met along my Crossfit journey, and he's going places in the Parkour/Freerunning/Stunt world...keep your eyes out for him!

Here are some other noteworthy links:

Along with Mike, I am giving props to our Parkour guy who was also in the top 10 Ninja Warrior, Justice Maynard.

He's at
He has too many youtube clips to name.
He does stunts for commercials and movies; was a pro wrestler; and does alot of parkour.

I was at the Police concert a month ago and there was some kind of ad or trailer that showed off some free running. The lady in front of me (45 and stuck in the 80's with no where to run) Looked at her boyfriend (who at some point during the concert wondered why the hell he had invited this whacked chick) with a disgusted look and said "Pffft, why the hell would you want to do that?"

I smacked her in the back of the head which caused her to nose dive into her glass of boxed wine.

Ok ok, so I made the last part up but I really wished I could have done that.

Tell PD I said hey! He made it by the gym about a month ago and said he was working with some Crossfit trainers. Definitely a cool guy with a ton of skill!

Monique/Leo, thanks a ton for the offer of equipment for last weekend, bummed that I didn't get time to make the trek to your facility!

Matt, Crossfit and Freerunning/Parkour mesh pretty seamlessly. There is no better system for strength and conditioning for those interested in the sports than Crossfit, and Parkour skills can be integrated into Crossfit workouts to great effect, such as our programs at

Check out the journal articles I've written on Parkour specifically for some more info. We'll also be putting out some small clips from our upcoming volume 2 tutorial DVD for the Crossfit community, so keep an eye on the front page over the coming months!

Met PD at the Colorado national jam this weekend. It was a blast!

As Jesse said though Freerunning/Parkour are pretty easily integrated (like at Primal). Might be a good things for a lot of CFers to look into to at least try. :-)
