Quick question, if I make a salad with, I dunno, tomatoes, peppers, ginger, lettuce, blah blah... how long can I keep it in the fridge for?

Also, if you good folks out there make a salad like this to have with breakfast, lunch, whatever; what do you make?

If it starts to wilt then I toss it! Salad is something that you can tailor to individual taste so easily. Like walnuts? Toss 'em in. Avocado? Cucumber? Meats? Cheeses? Eggs? Olive oil? Vinegar? Toss 'em all in, and so on....

What I do is pre-cut all of my veggies, meats,ect... and place them in seperate airtight containers ... when I am ready to eat them I put it all together into a salad... it lasts longer that way.

Does anyone use ethylene free fruit and veggie bags?

Vegetables and fruits all rot due to a gas that they expel over time...ethylene.
This is a natural occuring gas, but unfortunately in an air-tight container or refirerator, the gas cannot escape and will speed up rotting of food. Those that try to quicken the rotting/ripening of fruits for baking have known this for years...put fruits in paper bags to speed up rottening.

There are bags available to store veggies/fruits that protect them, as well as, allow ethylene to escape. I get mine from Home Shopping Network (HSN.COM)..they have really cheap deals.
