Re: how many eggs do you eat a week?

Eggs = bad cholesterol is a myth. If you google eggs and cholesterol myth you'll be bombarded with info.

here's a link to start you off:

Oh and I've gained 60lbs in the last year (on purpose) eat a lot of eggs and meat and my cholesterol is the same as it was before the weight gain. My total is less than 150.

Re: how many eggs do you eat a week?

+1.

High overall cholesterol and LDL are tied to two things: intake of saturated fats and your body's genetic response to it.

Some people can eat pretty much whatever they want and maintain low overall and LDL cholesterol.

Some people, like myself, can't.

I don't eat many eggs, but those I do eat are the Omega 3 variety, though you do need to eat a lot of them to get much benefit IMO. Still, better than nothing.

Re: how many eggs do you eat a week?

Almost every weekday I eat 6 whole eggs in the morning. On the weekends I sometimes eat more than six a day if there's nothing good for lunch in the dining hall. So probably about 45 a week.

My recent blood work was ridiculously good, total cholesterol was about 125 (I think anything under 190 is considered good). I don't remember what my triglyceride/HDL/LDL numbers were, but they were also very good.

I don't think my experience is uncommon.

Edit: while we're on the topic of saturated animal fat/cholesterol, I also eat bacon with those eggs. No problems, only PRs.

Edit: in my counting, I also forgot that 3-4 days a week my dinner is a stir fry with two eggs in it. So that brings my total to over 50 a week.

Re: how many eggs do you eat a week?

I eat 10 to 19 eggs per week. I always try to get the cage free eggs if I can.

My HDL is 66.
My LDL is 58.

I either get 2/3 eggs at a time fried in Butter or have them fried in EVOO.

I eat 90% Paleo with Whey/Casien protein and then the occasion cheat Pizza or something. If I have pizza it is thin crust and I add eggs to it when I get it home.

Only about a $1 more a carton here ($3.99 versus $2.99).

Re: how many eggs do you eat a week?

I eat at least four every morning, usually scrambled up with a pork product (periodically rotate through bacon, canadian bacon, chorizo and country sausage). Cholesterol a couple months back was 153 with very favorable HDL/LDL splits and my triglycerides were at the very bottom of the "normal" range.

Omega 3 eggs - AFAIK, they don't have any additional fat over regular eggs, just a better O6/O3 split. They also definitely do not cost 2x where I shop, closer to 1.5x depending on brand. Organic/free range seems to be where you really get hit on price.

I eat the ones from Oakdell Farms (http://www.oakdell.com/OmegaPage.php...c082b7d51e5fe2 WFS). I am not sure how widely they are available, but the O6/O3 split is 1.5:1, there is 100mg of DHA per egg and they are only $2.69/dozen at my grocery store so for me it is a no-brainer. Local Costcos here also carry them in 18-packs at an even better price/egg.

Re: how many eggs do you eat a week?

Eggland's best has 50mg of O3, less saturated fat than normal eggs and are usually on sale at shop rite, so the price diff is <$0.50

Hey all those posting your blood stat, what's your typical carb intake? Mostly veggies? Paleo?
