Re: A comment here from "Marys" video on Main Site

CrossFit isn't just a GPP. It's different. And all the things that make it different aren't easily measured or explained. The stuff that bothers people about CrossFit are some of the same things that make it great/different/appealing to others.

Exercise is exercise. Diet is diet. CrossFit is diet, exercise and community. The community part is what is different - and as cheezy as it may sound, I credit this community for saving my life.

Whatever works.

Re: A comment here from "Marys" video on Main Site

I think amongst certain circles Crossfit must be more popular than it is around here. My wife and I and a friend crossfit. The people I've met on here and at the local affiliate crossfit. But so far I have never bumped into another person who is a crossfitter. The best I ever get is a "I've heard of it".

So it's not "changing the world" yet. But the popularity is definitely increasing. Changing the world would all depend on where this increase in popularity stalls out at.

Mary's video was really a great example of anybody being able to crossfit though. It was nice to get a point of view from someone who isn't a firebreather and never will be.

It is just another GPP program but a very good one at that. I do think community is a really valuable part but the same can be said of other sports groups etc... It certainly is the best thing I have ever done for my health and fitness..so far anyway.

Seems like it would be easier to not concern yourself with what others think of CrossFit.

That is kinda true. I think most people just really love the results it has given them but for sure some get a little too "zealot like" about it for sure.

Not me. I have a daughter and I'm a myopian.

I think the word homer would sound better than myopian... but at least you admit it.
