New Digial Camera/Video

Hi guys and gals: We have been experimenting with several cameras and video cameras and finally came across one that may be a decent all in one. We use video and stills as a major coaching tool to help people "see" what they do.

The Elixim EX-FH20. About $530 from Amazon.com

Here is Patrick at 40 frames per second on a snatch: http://www.hyperfitusa.com/hyperfit_...er-second.html

And a slow motion video of several snatches:

I decided to post it here in running a facility because a good camera is pretty essential to running a facility. The camera has a slow motion video/play back so the athlete can get instant feedback. Brian McKenzie uses a different model of Exilim for analysis of running form and since, we have been playing around with a couple of different models. The burst 40fps is cool to look at movements as well as the video. The still mode takes blog worthy pictures. It has the same frame by frame setting common in the rest of the cameras.

So far, we like it a lot. Has anyone else used or had experience with this model? What feedback it there out there?

All links are WS/FS if snatching is okay in your family or workplace

Doug,

Thanks for the great review. I've been looking for a camera that does exactly what this one does. Size is right, other reviews of the product are good. So, I just bought it from broadwayphoto.com (WFS) for $440. I'll post again after I get it and get a chance to use it a bit.

I don't know anything about the camera, but that is a nice lift! I would like to see the full-motion video.

Re: New Digial Camera/Video

Steve,

Cool, let me know how it goes. So far so good. The only downside it the time it takes to save the images. Way to shop around for it. If it pans out fully we will need a couple more.

I plan to video all our staff our staff development tomorrow. It should be helpful for everyone to see their movements in slow motion and get evaluated on their movement. We were playing around with it the other day with KB Clean and Snatch. Pretty cool.

Will you be in Austin?

Doug

Ned: I have a few of Patrick's lifts buried in the web site somewhere. I will see if I can get a more full speed one too.

Re: New Digial Camera/Video

i could really use some advice!

I'd like an all in one, but maybe I can't afford $500 right now. Anyone got something to recommend in the ~$200 ball park?

Re: New Digial Camera/Video

what about this unit?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830170209

WFS

for the price, it seems to have 1280x720 video (albeit 30 fps) and HD capability. It's also over 10mp, which goes a long way on wordpress.

I was a little disappointed in the video quality of my new 'cheap' camera.

By the way, great snatch, great video, awesome box.

Re: New Digial Camera/Video

Jason,

The regular Exlilim has a lot and have similar features.

I saw a decent one at Best Buy on sale for $150ish

It is cool for frame by frame but isn't a all in one solution from the other one.

Doug
