Holiday Classes

It has become a tradition to hold morning workouts during holidays.

Here is the link to ours from today.

Re: Holiday Classes

Hey, Doug,
On Thanksgiving we have our annual, "Burn the Turkey" workout at 9 am. We had 64 attend yesterday at our Mount Vernon facility. It was great fun.

Our next holiday workout will be New Years Day. January 1st is my birthday, so we do the 'Filthy Fifty' scaled to my age. This year it will be the 'Filthy Fifty-Seven'. Our members are hoping I don't live to be 80!!

Re: Holiday Classes

Cool Skip:

I was wondering what everybody else did, it has become kind of a tradition. I think it is a cool opportunity to bring everyone together. I am glad you posted, I thought I was the only one working on turkey day and felt alone

What WOD did you do with them? I always worry about the holiday WOD and having enough equipment.

Doug

Re: Holiday Classes

This year we all hit the local Turkey Trot for a 5k. My intention was for everyone to run as a group, one because we would all be seen together in our bright orange shirts, two, because I hate running and it was my excuse to go easy. Well, on the gun everyone just took off and went at it hard. We had quite a few place well in their age groups.

Lots of pics on our site a few days ago, check it out.

I will probably do a New Years Day WOD as well.

Re: Holiday Classes

Group warm-up.

We lined everyone up outside and took a head count. We had total 64. We divided them in half and half went into one side(unit c) of the facility and half to the other side(unit d). We split them into 5 groups on each side. On one side we had 6 stations, designated by a small white board on the wall. Each white board had 5 exercises(bear crawl, crab walk, sit-ups, burpee broad jump, knees to elbows, pull-ups, box jump, etc.). The members rotated from exercise to exercise each minute, 5 minutes per station for 30 minutes.

On the other side it was similar. 5 stations with 5 exercises, 1 minute per exercise. Every 5 minutes they performed a one minute plank. Some of the exercises were thrusters, push press, wall ball, burpees, push-ups, deadhangs, kb swings, sdhp, etc.

After 30 minutes they switched sides.

Re: Holiday Classes

Down here in Lauderdale we took advantage of the nice Cold 70 degree weather and met at the local park for a workout. Only had a hand full of athletes show up but it was fun and brought a lot of attention from the local idiots who like to play tackle football with no pads. I guess we were all young and dumb at one time.
