There's no O girl. The board I made for the girls had 12 spots and 11 names. I added Olivia and came up with:

35 lb DB thruster
Pullups
Ring Dips
52 lb KB Swing

Reps of 15-12-9 for Time

Micah wrote this on my board:

"Micah 7:35. Apparently the fact that breathing is a necessity for living wasn't taken into consideration when "Olivia" was constructed. HOLY CRAP! After the first set of 15 (each exercise) I had to stop during each set. I couldn't catch my breath. My lungs and chest wall were compteting for space. It was a turf war. Lungs won."

I don't mean to infer for a moment that I am up to naming the official "O" exercise, but in my gym until one is officially laid out we will dance with Olivia.

Lynne,
You might have to stand in line...
Unless Coach tosses up a sweet WOD tommorrow, I think I will give it a try. Now where was that bucket?

Joe

Eugene,

we don't have rings and KBs in our gym. Would a Db swing and parallel bar dips be acceptable substitutes?

Did it this evening in 6:12 as prescribed. The thrusters are always tough for me and I had to pause during the 15 and 12...but not the 9. I'm pretty good at pullups but had to break up all but the last 9 dips. Swings were no problem but kept me breathing hard for the thrusters.

Here is my rational for the 15-12-9 for 4 exercises. 21 reps kills me but long lasting sets of exercises do not. 21-15-9 is 45 reps and times 2 movements is 90 total reps. 15-12-9 is only 36 reps but times 4 exercises is 144 total reps. I like the longer workouts.

Also I couldn't think of very many girls names that start with O.

Mark - absolutely so far as your substitutions. The swings will be just the same but the dips will be just slightly easier without the ring movement. Go hammer Olivia.

Jeff - with 55 lb dumbbells I would stop after every rep for a rest. Wow, you scale up...I wish I was that strong. Well done. And Conner did it with 35's. That wunderkid is amazing. I hope I can get my boy to be half as powerful.

Brand X rocks.

Eugene,
Threw this at the class last night, about 25-30 people. Universally the comments were "It doesn't look so bad tonight". By the second round beginners and old timers alike were shooting that look at me that made me want to have my back to a wall. Good fun. Olivia has earned a place at Brand X.
