Hi All-

I am looking for the group's thought on the following Tabata workout I have come up for downhill mountain biking.

Downhill riding isn't about riding up a hill on a 25 pound bike in spandex. My bike weighs about 45 pounds and sees some very rough terrain. Downhilling is very taxing on the upper body due to rocks, jumps, drops, turns, falls, etc. Of course my legs get killed due to standing on the pedals the length of a section that normally lasts about 10 minutes. My normal route also involves quite a bit of seated climbing, about 4 miles which is a lot on a 45 pound bike. My goals are to go full speed on the downhill, everyone going up and lose some body fat at the same time. Developing an efficient and balanced workout that will get me where I want to be would great.

Below is a Tabata workout I came up with. Any input is much appreciated.

Warm-up:
Fairly easy 4 mile ride
Strecth

Workout: 8 rounds of each exercise, 20sec on, 10sec off, 1 minute between excercises
Bike sprints
Pull Ups
Sit Ups
Squats
Push Ups
Bike sprints

Scott - though my knowledge in general is limited, that looks like a killer workout. I think you'll definitely see progress in your riding doing something like that.
