I'm really enjoying Crossfit. Yesterday was my 3-month Anniversary to the day. Interestingly enough, I started with Cindy that day. I got 16 rounds but the last 6 rounds of pullups were assisted with a 1-1/8" superband. Plus, I was beat. Yesterday, I did 23 rounds and felt great!
Top that off with a new Deadlift PR two weeks ago today of 435# at a BW of ~185. Thanks Coach! Seriously, I've been exercising for the last 17 years. I've read countless books and articles and got my CSCS certification. Crossfit is the best overall program I've found. What might be even better is that I'm having fun again. |

Strong work John. The deadlift PR is meaningful because you've probably deadlifted for many of those 17 years.
From what I've seen, when you get above 20 on Cindy it's time to add a weight vest. |

Thanks Chris. Yeah, that dead PR has been around since '99. Needless to say, I was pretty psyched up about that. The scratch paper from that days workout is still on the fridge. Best part is, it felt relatively easy. I think I could have pulled another 10-15 pounds. If I keep putting on weight, I might have to shoot for 500; maybe a 39th b-day present if I get it by August.
I'm sorry, I keep reading that you want me to make Cindy harder by wearing a weighted vest. What did you actually mean to write? :happy: A good idea, but a weighted vest is pretty far down on my shopping list. |
