Are there any studies backing up crossfit claims?

Pepsin in the stomach starts to digest proteins and while it's most active at a PH of 2, it is effective up until 6.5, which is practically neutral. So it's unlikely that anyone would have that low stomach acid. If they did they would probably have worse problems than poor WOD performance!

Normally digestion would just be slower with lower than normal stomach acid, but it would still progress.
