Re: My Wild Adventure - Pics as well

August 3,4, 2008

Rest Days... Needed my legs were very sore.

Have no stats updates and pic as well to post today:

Starting weight: 278lb
Todays weight: 248lb

Starting Waist size: 42
Todays Waist size: 38

I think I'm gettting there. Slowly but surely. Still struggling to control my diet thats why the fat loss is so much slower than it should be. But controlled fat loss is better than losing 20lbs a month or something crazy like that. I think I made significant gains from July to August and it can be seen clearly in the picture.

Re: My Wild Adventure - Pics as well

August 6, 2008

Day: 134

WOD:

25 pound Dumbbell squat snatch, left arm, 21 reps
25 pound Dumbbell squat snatch, right arm, 21 reps
42 Pull-ups (Assisted with the Black strap from Iron Woody)
25 pound Dumbbell squat snatch, left arm, 15 reps
25 pound Dumbbell squat snatch, right arm, 15 reps
30 Pull-ups (Assisted with the Black strap from Iron Woody)
25 pound Dumbbell squat snatch, left arm, 9 reps
25 pound Dumbbell squat snatch, right arm, 9 reps
18 Pull-ups (Assisted with the Black strap from Iron Woody)

TIME: 24:36

Should have used 35lbs for this one but I needed to work on form. The pull-ups are the one thing that takes the longest for me. Being a big guy at 250 the 60-80lbs is nice from the strap but its still a lot of weight. The good thing is pull-ups are getting much easier and thanks to tabata I am able to do more reps later on after a short rest so thats good. Can't wait to do this one again it was a lot of fun!

August 7,8,9,10, 2008

Bad injury to groin and scrap on forearm have kept my sidelined for a few days. Will be hitting the gym tomorrow! Hope this goes well, I hate injury!

August 11, 2008

Day: 139

Run 5k

Time: 30:02

This was 11 seconds worse than on June 23. I was dealing with a deep bruised groin ( landed on softball ). But most likely this was due to my poor diet over the last two weeks and skipping workouts. I am back on track now and want to really kick a$$ in August. My goals at the end of August will be met. So no more screwing around, no more late night eating from being drunk and no more excuses! Hopefully I can stay healthy long enough. This groin thing is painful but nothing long term threatening, just some pain. Here we go again!!! Thanks for every one who supports me in my second wind effort here, I will never give up on my goals!

It's probably too late, but I'd stay away from running until the ole groin heals up. Try elliptical, or going on a bike ride, but the running motion is always a big aggrivation when running.

Thanks again for the running advice Dave. One day I will figure it out. But seriously its just black and blue above where the actual muscle is. I just didn't want to go into actual detain of where it is (above my privates). It was painful but nothing to alarm me, just tender. Plus I don't plan on running for a few more days anyways.

Thanks again!

Re: My Wild Adventure - Pics as well

August 12, 2008

Day: 140

WOD:
10 GHD
10Good Mornings 45lb
20 65lb Thrusters
30 Pull-ups(Black Strap) 20 GHD 20 Good Mornings 45lb
15 65lb Thrusters
20 Pull-ups (Black Strap)
30GHD
30 Good Mornings 45lb
10 65lb Thrusters 15 Pull-ups (Black Strap)

Time: 18:22

I did not feel very weak after this WOD. I had to waste time switching my bar between 65lb and 45lb each round but that couldn't have added more than 2 mins total to my time. The hardest part was pull-ups but the thrusters were a joke and the GHDs and Good mornings please I can do those in my sleep. I guess I was expecting this one to be harder than it was. Next time I will have to go up in reps and weight!

Great progress man. Unfortunately, it seems Crossfit has made you shorter. What height are you at now?

Yea the pictures kind of make it look that way. Still 6' but it actually seems like I'm taller because I stand up straighter. Just wait until CrossFit makes me lose all my chest hair!
