Re: My Wild Adventure - Pics as well

July 16, 2008

Day: 113

Warm-up:
2 Rounds
400m Run
10 Good mornings 45lb
5 Push-ups
5 Pull-ups (assisted with Black Strap - Iron Woody)
10 GHD situps
5 Bench dips

WOD:

Deadlift 5-5-5-5-5

225/230/230/235/240

Skill work:

Tabata Pull-ups (assisted with Black Strap - Iron Woody)
8/6/5/4/3/2/2/2 Total = 32

Wow Tabata is really tough. This was the first time for me doing tabata anything. I plan on doing pull-ups, push-ups, and squats maybe sit-ups once a week for about 12 weeks to see my progression. Kind of thanking a page from Gant's book.

First time doing the 5-5-5-5-5 for deadlift. My 1 RM for deadlift before this was 240 so I was really happy to see myself finish all 5 at 240. Sad to say but my garage gym just doesn't have any more weights to add so before the next Heavy Lift day I need to go out and get some 45 lbers - the stupid 25lbers just wont work any more!!! (I think thats a good thing)

Re: My Wild Adventure - Pics as well

July 17-20th, 2008

Was part of a wedding. No chance to workout on all 4 days and typically drinking most of the time. So I didn't get a chance to do these workouts. I ate as clean as I could. Can't wait to get back to it tomorrow. I miss crossfit.

Hey Michael,

I don't know how or why, but I stumbled across your workout log today and read through it. I don't really have anything in common with you being a small guy myself, but I was totally impressed.

Your pictures speak a thousand words, but also I loved watching you shred your modified warm-up time over the couple of months. Eventually I think you were doing 2 rounds (including those 2 400m runs) in less time than it initially took you to do 2 rounds.

Also, there is a highly visible reduction in body fat, especially around the waist, as well as some evident chest development from the first picture to the last.

Keep it up!

Thanks a lot Christopher it is great to get compliments. That modified warm-up went from being the least fun thing in the world to do back in April to something I don't even think about doing.

Again thank you for your comments, they are absolutely motivating.

Re: My Wild Adventure - Pics as well

July 21, 2008

Day: 117

WOD:

35 Box Jumps
35 Jumping Pull-ups
35 DB swings 30lb
35 Walking Lunges
35 Push Press 45lb
35 Good mornings 45lb
35 Thrusters 2 dbs 20lb
35 Knees to Chest
35 Burpees
35 Tuck Jumps

Time: 28:02

This felt great to do. Burpees and Tuck jumps at the end burn my lungs so badly. Pushed hard through this one. Knees to Chest were so much easier this time than the last time I did them, I got my knees really high. Still hate the Burpees but can do more at once than I could before. Can't wait to hit the 2k row tomorrows looking to really destroy that one.

July 22, 2008

Day: 118

Warm-up:
2 Rounds
400m Run
10 Good mornings 45lb
10 Push-ups
10 Pull-ups (assisted with Black Strap - Iron Woody)
10 GHD situps
10 Bench dips

Time: 9:56 PR

WOD:

Row 2k

Sub'd 200 strokes on magnetic Rowers at level 15 (no distance given)

Time: 6:53

Tabata Push-ups
13/10/10/10/10/8/8/7 Total = 76

Pull-ups were extremely easy in my warm-up today. I think I am already seeing the results of Tabata. Will continue to try and do Pull-ups, Push-ups, Squats, and sit-ups each week. Should see some vast improvement. Eventually will Graph my results. Felt great to workout today and really feeling the swing of things now.

July 23, 2008

Day: 119

Warm-up:
2 Rounds
400m Run
10 Good mornings 45lb
10 Push-ups
10 Pull-ups (assisted with Black Strap - Iron Woody)
10 GHD situps
10 Bench dips

Time: 10:21

WOD:

Push Jerk 3-3-3-3-3
120/130/135/140/145PR

Skill Work:

Tabata Squats:
18/15/14/14/12/13/13/13 Total = 112

Fun workout to do. Really felt sore after the Push Jerk - Pushed really hard at this one. Squats were fun but almost saw Pukie right after the end of it. Pushed so hard in that one. Really enjoy ending my Workouts with Tabata. Really seeing some visual results this week. I feel like fat is melting off of me.

Re: My Wild Adventure - Pics as well

July 24, 2008

Day: 120

Warm Up: 1/4 mile run

WOD:

Fran
21-15-9
85lb thrusters
Pull-ups (Assisted with Black strap from Iron Woody)

Time: 8:59

This one was tough to fight through. Pushed really hard. Last time had to do this at 75lb thrusters and jumping pull-ups and that time was 7:42. I am happy with the time I got for the increase in weight and toughness of the pull-ups with the assisted band. Really still not easy at my weight being 250lbs. Can't wait till I can cut about 20 more lbs and then pull-ups with get much easier. But felt really strong in this one. 95lbs would have been a little harsh and my time truely would have suffered. Getting there! Keep on pushing.

Re: My Wild Adventure - Pics as well

Mike, keep staying on those pullups! I have seen an exponential improvement in mine, just in a couple of months. Pretty soon, you'll find yourself sneaking in more and more kippers, or dead hangs. Have you tried the weighted pullups yet? They might be a big condfidence-booster if you did a couple weighted PUs beofre you did your next Fran...

Thanks Dave. I am not sure weighted will be right for me just now. At 250lbs I struggle just doing 1 regular one. But I am looking to move down in resistance band soon. This will make the Pull-ups extremely hard.
