Pectus Excavatum

I have a small to medium indentation in the sternum, as well as ribs that flare a bit. Could this be effecting my cardiovascular endurance? I have never been very good at long distance anything and I have heard this can compress the lungs giving me decreased lung volume. How seriously can effect someone? Mine is pretty noticeable but I don't have any problem breathing normally, only when doing cardiovascular activity.

Re: Pectus Excavatum

Ever think of consulting a thoracic surgeon about reconstruction of a new breast bone?

Re: Pectus Excavatum

It's not bad enough that I would want to undergo expensive surgery and months of recovery.

Re: Pectus Excavatum

get a job at starbucks and work 20 hours a week, for the health insurance.. and its only 6 weeks of passive "recovery" time.

Re: Pectus Excavatum

I had a boyfriend who had quite large pectus excavatum. He was a really great long distance athlete and he never had a problem. Long distances suck anyway. Train intense short distance and see if you make any improvements.
