Re: Veronica's Workout Journal

FYI about Zone it does take a week or two adjustment period where you'll feel like crap or hungry a lot. If you're too hungry at the start just add a couple of fat blocks. No use starving your body while you're adjusting and feeling terrible the whole time. Performance will probably be a bit lower as well so expect to be sore and for it to linger some more than you're used to.

Thanks Steve. Do you allow yourself "fun meals" once a week?

Re: Veronica's Workout Journal

I'm not on Zone.

I try to eat healthy regardless though. I haven't played around much with regulating my diet mainly since I'm at home at the moment and a lot of my meals have lots of carbs. I am asian so I don't have as high a insulin response to carb meals like with rice, so I guess it's all good..

Some people allow themselves a cheat meal. If you can do with out it then go for it.

I was thinking of a cheat meal once a week. I love desserts way too much.

Re: Veronica's Workout Journal

Diet
Day 3 in the Zone. I checked my weight today... 127 lbs. SWEET. I won't check it again until Monday. I just realized last night that I'm not the brightest crayon in the box. I was counting yougurt as a carb and fat block when it is really a protein and carb block. DUH!!! Needless to say I missed a fat block at one of my snacks on Day 1 and 2. One thing I can say about the Zone is that it is easy AND I managed to be able to eat ice cream with my dinner and stay within my blocks. Saturday is "Fun Meal" Day. I'm going to eat.

Training
Today's crossfit WOD is power cleans. I was going to go to crossfitDC on Sunday, but I can't pass up on the chance to workout with Big Glenn. Since we are going to do cleans on Sunday, there is no need to do cleans today. I'm hoping to be able to get to crossfitDC on Tuesday night.

Inspite of not be able to do today's WOD, I decided to do a workout from a few months ago. I was going to do arms after, but I was out of gas. I think my soul left my body during part of the workout.

Day 3 - Crossfit Day
Crossfit Warm-up for 2 rounds
Sampson stretch
15 overhead squats
15 sit-ups
15 back extensions
15 pull-ups (+40 assistance)
15 dips (+40 assistance)

Unnamed workout
5 rounds for time
55# sumo deadlift high pulls x 10
55# thrusters x 10
Time - 16:22
(I was supposed to do 15 reps, but didn't realize it until the last round... )

Awesome! I'm still plugging away and trying not to add too much too fast, but this seems like exciting stuff to me! WTG!

Veronica-
My wife and I allow a full cheat MEAL - not just a dessert once per week... usually Saturday night.

If you are a dessert addict, remember that ice cream is an unfavorable fat, but an acceptable fat in the Zone.
