Still here....

I took a break from CF for about 2 weeks (due to other obligations) and dragged my butt back to my box this morning. I survived 4 Rounds of 20 DL's, 200M run, and 20 Toes 2 bar after squatting all morning. Needless to say, I got my behind handed to me....

aah...it's great to be back in the swing of things

Hope everyone's doing great

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Oh Helen (and everyone else)-Get this:

So after yesterday’s deadlift fest in the AM, I forgot that I had committed to a “girls night workout” with the teachers from my studio. So, yesterday afternoon I conquered a Pilates class (1 hr) followed by a HIGH energy Zumba class (1 hr). Although not what I would normally choose to workout, I can see how if people put the energy into it can get a great workout from them. My point is this: because of all the work I did in CF, I really didn’t struggle much in Pilates with the holds. There were a couple that were challenging, but I could still do them. Whole different way of using my body. Then with the Zumba class, it’s all choreography (which was a breeze for me), but ALL cardio. I can proudly say I didn’t get winded once and I was doing it all high energy. I was sweating to death and had a great time.

That all being said, during Pilates I was watching out the back windows of the room and critiquing the weightlifters on form most of the time. It was scary. Bicep curls in the squat rack….insane. I hear people talk about that, but to actually see it was crazy

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Kim... great work. it is amazing how much difference CF makes and often we do not realise it until we do things with ease that before would have been a bit of a struggle.. I try to "not see" really bad form now. At my local gymette ( tiny little gym just up the road) there is one guy who has the worst rowing technique that if i watch him i get sore...

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Thanks Helen!

One of the funniest things I saw was this guy bench pressing. He had a decent amount of weight, but his spotter was holding the bar with him the whole time...so whether or not he really pushed the weight is subject for debate.

Anyway, because of that GNO fest, I was super sore/exhausted yesterday and opted for a rest day. But jumped back on it this morning. Nothing like rowing and wall balls to work out the soreness in my legs....

Ok, seriously....I want my back to look like those girls in the pic on the main page today.

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Yep-went to the gym today at 6am. Only 3 of us in class….which means that we got extra attention on C&J technique work. The point?

I PR’D MY C&J BY 15#!!!! I’M IN TRIPLE DIGITS-100#!!!

Then proceeded to do the WOD: 16 min. EMOM of 2 C&J’s at 80% of 1 RM….so that would 32 reps at 80#, when about a month ago, I was doing all my C&J WODs at ~65#....whoop whoop!!

It.is.a.good.day!

Re: Where's the Girl Power?

Forgive me for jumping in, but I just had to stop by and brag about my small accomplishment. After about six months of CF off & on and three different boxes, I've finally found my "forever box." It's offered through work. (Who knew?!!) But that's not my accomplishment.

First let me start by saying I'm slow. Like, ridiculously slow. I look like I'm in much better shape than I'm actually in. But when we're doing WODs, I'm usually 10 - 15 minutes behind everyone else, to include other newbies. I don't mind too much. I just usually remind myself that I'm not in it for competition (yet) and as the old saying goes, slow and steady wins the race.

Now that I'm at a box with trainers I trust, I hit my first little milestone. I was able to do our WOD today with the prescribed weights. Normally, I shoot for the 2/3 mark. Today, I did it all. That's my accomplishment. But...

I'm still making one modification to all of my WODs. I just can't seem to get past it: I step out on the burpees. I just don't have the core to kick my legs out. Wait... let me rephrase. I can kick out for four, maybe five reps, but after that, I have to step it out. Any idea on how I can build my core so I don't have to modify these? Planks? Is it mental? *sigh!* I hate burpees.

Anyhow, keep posting the stats, ladies! It gives me a good idea of what I can shoot for and where I might end up.
