Next piece of equipment for garage gym

Opinions please:

I currently have:

Bumpers + bar (just purchased)
dumbbells
Flat bench
Squat Rack
Pullup bars
Rings - awesome... best fitness buy in a long time.
24-lb homemade ball, 20 lb homemade ball
paralletes
Home depot Pylo box - irrigation box - too short, need riser

Should I next purchase:

GHD
or
Concept II rower (currently have damn elliptical I need to get rid of)
or
1 and 1.5 pood kettlebell

Thanks

I vote for the C2... it is a lot harder to "sub" other things for and get the same result. Any KB stuff can be done with your dumbells and you can fake a GHD for the odd time you need one, or even build your own.

If you can afford a rower, then I'd get one. The CII's flexibility, monitor, and ranking system is simply peerless, IMO.

But then, I'm biased - my kids row.

I'd acquire the items on your list in the following order: C2, kbs, GHD. The C2 is tought to beat. However, I have been having a lot of fun with my kettlebells. Sure, dbs are similar and cheaper and easier to acquire, but I think you'll like having the kbs around once you add them in.

No doubt, I like my KBs, just saying theC2 would be put to better use initially seeings how dumb bells are available for swings and whatnot.

Tom,

Put a wanted ad on your local Craigslist for a Concept 2 and maybe you'll get lucky and get one for cheap. The C2 is definately a must have.

You have a solid garage gym, need to add a C2, then maybe the GHD.
Nice job on adding equipment.

Jay

BTW, I have a C2, awesome, enough said.

My vote goes to the C2. It is the only cardio machine that still makes me nervous since I know that no matter the distance or time I row, I will be in pain afterwards.
Cheers
Pierre

Go with the rower. I got one in December and totally love it. Great buy.

Re: Next piece of equipment for garage gym

What is it about rowers that everyone thinks they're so good? Sorry, this is a serious question. I just cannot feel I'm getting a good workout from one, my back seems to take whatever I throw at it and my knee/hips are what gives out before anything else.

We have kayaks and go kayaking from time to time so I think my action is OK.
Pity with my knee issues ATM I can't even contemplate rowing anyway. I'm back in the pool swimming. No elliptical, no running, no cycling for two months. I'm not even convinced I can water run OK, did two laps yestrday and my knee arced up.

Sorry this is sort of a misplaced post but the overwhelming vote for rowers has me curious.
