I ordered a pair of IronMind's squat Vulcan racks since my current Yukon all-in-one station has tiny little supports to catch the bar and if you miss it, you're screwed.

Do I need to also get spotter racks or do you "failsafe" on a squat? I don't get below 90 degrees anyway due to lack of flexibility so I'm assuming I could just throw the bar back?

I've only squatted with lighter weights or in a squat cage at the gym and have never had to drop the bar.

Thanks.

Elliot, I have the Vulcan Rack and also the Pillars of Power racks and use the former for squats of course but also push presses as you might imagine. The Pillars of Power are fabulous for saving you when you fail on a squat but can be used for bench presses as well so you don't need to have a bench specific set up. Do you NEED them? If you don't mind just dumping it off your back if you fail, and you never fail forward, I guess not. Good piece of mind though and an excellent product.

Elliot,
I *really* like the mental security of racks, especially as the weights get heavier. The don't have to be fancy, anything will do. I watched a guy do 405# in his dining room off bar stools. He was single, of course.

Back when iron was cheaper I made a set. Simple but effective.
