This got posted in the CFFB comments section for today. As was noted there, it makes a pretty good case for deceleration training but it doesn't really specify what deceleration training looks like. |

I like the first article. I suggest asking coaches what type of loads they give their athletes. Swimmers do about 3 hero type intensity sets a week. Ask a speed skater coach or a hockey coach for their training plan if you want t develop explosiveness.

I feel like your experience with swimming training was much different from mine if you were doing 3 20+ minute efforts without rest a week. What exactly does "varsity" swimming mean in Canada?
