Re: Shane Carwin & Steroids

So... I guess the answer is that you're angry Carwin was using and don't really care that he was involved (allegedly) in a conspiracy to distribute controlled substances?

My perspective is the opposite. I think it's Carwin's beeswax if he wants to use and he doesn't need my permission or forgiveness. Likewise you don't need my permission or forgiveness to have unprotected sex or eat 5 lbs of bacon, even though it may be bad for you.
I have issues with him conspiring to illegally distribute anabolics. That's kind of a big deal to me.

"I have issues with him conspiring to illegally distribute anabolics"

And

" I think it's Carwin's beeswax if he wants to use "

Are at odds with each other. If you think it's someones business what they use and don't use, then someone has to provide the substances for them to have a real choice.

Using and dealing are two distinct things, though.
I can see how someone might not care if a person is using under the logic, "he's only hurting [I guess] himself."

I can also see how the same person might not be so pleased when the other guy is actually dealing, or conspiring to do so, because the impact on other people (potentially) has a greater effect.

Sean,

But the people who he is dealing to are only hurting themsleves as well. How can you let the original person decide what they want to do yet be upset when he tries to give the same choice to others?

I'm not saying I agree with it - I can just see how some people differentiate the two.

Re: Shane Carwin & Steroids

My problem is not with him or any pro athletes using, I loathe the Roger Clemens types, the Barry Bonds types, that go out and become the best in the world at something, with some help from PED's, and then deny it until the bitter end. Andy Pettite admitted he used HGH to help him recover and pitch deep in to the season. I am really just asking if anyone is surprised that Shane Carwin is on steroids? I'm interested to see how he handles it, and if he will just admit that he juiced, (I don't think ANYONE has ever admitted to presently being on steroids) or if he will be another Clemens and Bonds and end up in front of a grand jury on perjury charges. I saw man up and tell the truth, after all, you're in the UFC.

I also think Ben Johnson whipped Carl Lewis' ***! Just the Canadian talking

I dunno, Mir seemed to get kind of doughy there when he bulked up.

I'd never trust what a pro athlete says on this subject

I guarantee if I continued to lift like I am and could bring my fat percentage down I could weigh 265 not be fat and not be on steroids. Of course this is with the right diet, which I suck at.
Point is, just because you weigh 265 and are muscular doesn't mean you're on 'roids.
Now that being said, I wouldn't discount that any professional athlete is on something.
Great point... however I must say that being 6'4 and 265 is very different from 6'0 and 265. To put in perspective 4 inches is the same difference between 5'8 and 6'0

It may be illogical (captain) but that's how current UK laws are on the subject.
