Hi all, I'm another newbie, just discovered the site the other day after watching BJ Penn pound someone in UFC. I'm keen to start, and in fact am about to go for my first ever WOD in a few minutes. My 'problem' is the opposite of most people. I'm not fat or overweight at all. I'm 6'1 and about 175 pounds. I play soccer all the time, and thus have that type of physique, with a bit of a pot belly! I want to lose my 'gut', basically get leaner, but i also want to put on muscle to bulk up a bit. Just wondering if these exercises will help me do that, or are they more geared towards strength and fitness, as opposed to bulking up.
Thanks,
Mark Wilson

If you eat properly (this is key) and work hard at the WODs you will get stronger. With strength comes muscle mass. You will lose your potbelly and you will no longer be overweight. I am sure you will be surprised at the gains you make.

Mark-

Check out the picture on the main page for Oct 13th. That is what most of the males on crossfit endup looking like. Not scary big...just scary!

When I first saw the blond hair I thought it was Dave but I do not think so. Coach?

That's James "Duffy" Gaver at the Crossfit Seminar 10/3. There's also a great group shot of everyone at the seminar on the main page from 10/6.

Kathy,

Did James "Duffy" come to CrossFit already looking that way or as a result of CrossFit?

I'm not sure Jon. I think he came in that way. That weekend at the seminar was the first I'd seen or heard of him. Coach could probably tell you more about how long Duffy has been following Crossfit.
