Re: couture v. lesnar in UFC!

The days when Randy could be referred to as "classy" are long past, in my opinion. The myth of "Captain America" was dispelled a couple wives and numerous contract disputes ago. He was exposed as a flat out liar when it came to those contract disputes and the fact he backed down and renegotiated with the UFC speaks to the fact he knew he could not win in court.

That being said, I have to agree that despite the fact Randy has more talent, I think he'll lose to the brute size and strength of Lesnar. And there won't be a fight with Fedor - UFC tried to get Fedor and they can't.

He's classy in terms of the way he handles himself in the ring and post fight, outside the ring I have no idea what he is like or Lesnar for that matter. ALthough Randy has made some very poor choices as of late, I almost forgot about Scorpion King 2

I think it is a bunch of bull they are giving a title shot to Lesnar already. He beat Herring, big fricken deal, Herring sucks. What about Mir, Nog, heck even Cain Valesquez or Fabricio Werdum? I'm sure Couture vs Lesnar will gross more $$ but come on.

Totally agree. The UFC took one more step toward the WWE by giving Lesnar a title shot this soon.

Re: couture v. lesnar in UFC!

I'm bummed.
There has to be an explanation for this -- a title shot for Brock?
WTF?

I'm not sure where I read this but didn't Randy have 3 more fights left on his "contract" with UFC? Maybe by him agreeing to take this fight, he will be released from his contract.

I don't know.

Something stinks in Denmark.

Re: couture v. lesnar in UFC!

While I'm very excited to see the Couture comeback, I am going in knowing that this is a 100% money-maker for the UFC, and nothing more. There are more deserving HWs but this is the biggest draw. It's a business afterall.

That being said, Randy will out-smart this beast and win. Not an easy win, I'm sure Randy will take some shots that ring his bell. But Randy's got too much brain-game for Brock.

And, the slingin' has started already, with Brock saying "Who gives a sh*t about Fedor?".... Nice Brock, look the gift horse right in the mouth. Fedor is one of the fan-favorites and you (after getting the fight of a lifetime) just showed your true colors.

I'm a consumate UFC/MMA fan, but from a MA standpoint, we sure could use some more honorable dudes. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of honorable dudes, but there are also plenty of punks.

Re: couture v. lesnar in UFC!

Nog and Mir are still in the running. Essentially, according to Dana White, it's a heavyweight tournament. Nog is the current "interim" champ. He's going to fight Mir. Couture and Lesnar will fight for the heavyweight title. The winner of Nog vs. Mir fights the winner of Couture vs. Lesnar.

As far as Fedor - is he the best fighter in the world? For sure. Is the average casual American fan more likely to know Fedor's or Lesnar's name? Lesnar, for sure.

I'm not a fan of cocky rude fighters. Guys like Tito, Baroni, Shamrock, etc - all very annoying to me. But they're part of the sport. Bad guys attract fans and Lesnar brings a huge legacy with him as well, legit sport or not.

I think you hit the nail on the head... but you usually do. That's really what I was trying to convey... sorta.

Nice post.

Re: couture v. lesnar in UFC!

If you are interested and haven't heard it yet, the "Hipcast" of the news conference announcing the fight is posted on Yahoo sports right now.
It is not WFS due to Dana White's language... it is also QUITE long.
