Re: Weird Stuff You've Learned From Crossfit

The cargo nets in an Audi won't keep a 1.5 pood from rolling around.

There's a rats nest of of wires above the drop ceiling in my gym

Ivanko bumpers bounce alot higher than eliko or york

the phrase "You've got a great snatch" will get very different reactions depending on the group

Most people that do deadlifts will talk anyone else that deadlifts

Again, the phrase "Ball massage" means different things to different people

Most gyms will not give you credit if a new rule is made because of you

How to do some major sucking up to the management at my globo.

How to climb a barbed-wire fence at the high school track.

That fish oil comes in different flavors.

Re: Weird Stuff You've Learned From Crossfit

Quick & dirty mental conversion from kilos to pounds, and vice versa (er, very dirty)

It really IS all about the hip drive

Living in the country with no brothers and lots of firewood to haul prepares one for Olympic lifting better than years building up strength with regular weightlifting. See above, hip drive.

Chalk - it's not just for blackboards anymore!

Chugging Olive Oil, just because you read someone elses post on it.
Finding a good emery board for your hands is really not that easy to find.

Bart,

Try a pumice stone. They're fairly easy to find and they work really well.

Ya I've tried that. Either I'm retarded, or its not working. I've gone so far as to try sandpaper. I think that I'm just not educated enough in knowing exactly what I'm looking for, when it comes time to file down my callouses.

Re: Weird Stuff You've Learned From Crossfit

You get two warnings before you get banned from your Uni. gym.

Bad form is caused by insufficient yelling.

Rest is good.

People who try to talk to you during a workout are either really helpful, or really stupid. No in-between.

Getting chalk in an open wound burns like hell.

Pain is mental.

There are few conditions that a good meal, 8 hours of sleep, and lots of water can't fix.

Being strong is vastly superior to looking strong.

It's not too heavy, you just haven't psyched yourself up enough.

Anyone who uses the words "tone," "abs," "spot reduction," "curls," or "boot camp workout" is someone you should probably avoid.

When in doubt: Slayer, Mastodon, pre-1990 Metallica, or the Gladiator Soundtrack.

Coming in 2nd is good motivation to try for 1st.

How to hijack a thread.

Bart- The PedEgg is like a carrot grater for your feet and hands. Works like a charm. Most drug stores carry them.

Sorry for the hijack, Christin.

Re: Weird Stuff You've Learned From Crossfit

I'm re hijacking. Make sure you soak your hands first. I take a show where I shave my head and face brush the teeeth and wash, and that seems to be the right amount of soaking. Pavel suggest 5-10 minutes of soaking in a tub and cornhuskers lotion.
