Re: Rampage gets arrested

Nope, not at all. I think we might be witnessing a breakdown here. Hopefully the "no drugs and alcohol" statement will stay true and he'll get through this.

Yeah, hope your right.

I think this does show how important fighting is to him. There are a lot of guys who would be more then happy to jump around the ring for 25 minutes just to make a win/lose payday.

Someone at work told me that Dana bailed him out? Do you know if that is true or not? I think he has enough of his own money to post a 25k bail.

Re: Rampage gets arrested

I heard rumor to the fact (online) that Dana bailed him out. Wouldn't surprise me, but you're right, I'm sure he can come up with $25k. 10% bond would only be $2500. He probably had that in his pocket!

Re: Rampage gets arrested

I also heard on today, via radio, that he was being hospitalized for mental health evaluations. That can't be good.

While that is not good, and we hope and pray for the best if he indeed is having a breakdown, it is certainly better than the alternative. And that is the normal sports athlete breakdown of booze, drugs, women, dog-fighting, cheating, strippers...etc. etc. etc....

Get better Quinton, you've got many fans praying for you.

Re: Rampage gets arrested

Since nobody has been hurt, I just hope that Rampage is alright and that he recovers and continues to be a great fighter (if he still desires to be).

Unfortunately that may not be true. There are some reports he sideswiped a car with a pregnant woman in it. She was taken to the hospital and apparently her injuries were minor. Let's hope the baby is ok too.

I've always liked Rampage, though he can get a little annoying sometimes. Basically, if Rampage has some mental health problems I hope he gets a lot of help and backing from the UFC and fans and overcomes it. If it wasn't some mental health thing and instead was something else I hope they throw him in prison. It feels weird to hope someone has mental health issues but it's the better alternative so I hope that turns out to be the case.

Oh we're talking about different fights I meant I thought Dana wanted CB to win the fight and kicked that guy out for that reason, not because he wants to preserve the integrity of MMA. I mean why let two people who had JUST fought have a rematch?

Re: Rampage gets arrested

Shane, Leben had an old DUI he needed to clear and a probation violation. He had to clear an old warrant to get a visa to fight Bisping. Apparently the only reason he was replaced was because they didn't think he'd have enough time to train with the jail sentence. So it had nothing to do with preserving the stellar image of MMA. Dana White doesn't strike me as particularly trustworthy or interested in integrity... It is all about the money. It was a pretty convincing story, though, that a lot of people seemed to believe. We all want to think MMA is about character and class but in reality although there are some fighters with integrity many of them are nothing more than basically criminals who beat people up at parties, drive drunk and throw gang signs. And I agree with you on Emerson.

Yael, while you are right that "some" MMA fighters this way, there is a large portion who are true martial artists and get in the game for the game. You are lumping those two groups together a little to much I think.

Dana is a money man for sure. But part bringin in that money is protecting the image of the fights. Dana wants clean fights and clean fighters. Because the only way for him to push this to the next level (national broadcasts and more money) is to keep the fighters clean and the fights clean. He's known for booting folks who don't walk the line and when those fighters leave the UFC they bash the UFC because they couldn't cut it, plain and simple.

This thread is about Rampage, and let's not lump him in this unless we find out different. He's turned his life in the right direction the last few years, taking care of his kids and trying to be stand-up man. Let's not turn this into an MMA bashing thread please.
