Angie's left me hurting...what to do?

The first time I met Angie was last summer, and the whole affair lasted about 39 minutes. This week, we met again and it took only 22. Although I'm stoked about the huge improvement, my arms are so sore I can barely change shirts! Add in a sore back from pushing myself on deadlifts, and I skipped yesterday's WOD and feel pretty sore still today.

What do you all recommend for those days when the WOD has totally beaten you down?

Ryan;

Suggest you re read : http://www.crossfit.com/journal/2007...do_by_gre.html

Contrast showers or baths.
Foam roller work
Increase intake of fish oil.
Extra rest
Scale WOD to a degree that it doesn't wipe you out after you're done.

Same thing happened to me - i.e. very encouraging improvement on Angie, hard push on deadlifts - then a wall, I had to skip Saturday and needed the rest day today as well.

I don't know what to recommend other than take the rest and enjoy it.

You're not the only one. I made it to the gym for the run/hang-snatch workout but after Angie just couldn't muster the strength. I think you were smart to recognize you needed an extra day off. I recommend doing at least a little something to get your body warmed up and then do some light stretching when you are done.

I'm still sore, but it did feel good to move around and do today's WOD.

Jay: Rhabdo hadn't crossed my mind. I guess it's good to refresh our memories from time to time. Thanks for the reminder!
