Has anyone ever messed around with switching the seat out on their airdyne bike. I really like the airdyne but the seat is so wide and fat that I have a hard time extending my legs all the way through. Any suggestions. It looks like a regular bike seat may be substituted.

OK. I'll post an answer to my own question. Just got back from the bike shop and bought the necessary stuff to make the seat switch. If anyone out there has an airdyne and doesn't like the seat, here is a fix.
Go to bike shop and pick up the following: - Good bike seat (personal preference) - Rail adapter All you do is take the seat post off the original seat and put the rail adapter on the new seat and tighten it to the seat post and bam! You have a practical airdyne. For guys make sure you have a level or slight declining angle in the seat when it is installed as to prevent discomfort in the groin area. Total Job cost me about $40 (New Seat $35.00 + Rail Adapter $1.99) Jim |

Sorry Jim, I have an airdyne, but it's the original seat, so I don't have any exp. w/ changing it. I assumed it was possible, since the thing is made by Schwinn, but I had no info to relate on the comfort or effectiveness of a different seat style.

This is what it looks like. World of difference for those folks having full extension due to the original fat pad. Jim |

anyone ever tried switching the pedal connection so the arm handles are in phase? I mean so you push both and pull both not push one while pulling the other. It looks like a simple job but after unscewing the connector I couldn't get the thing off. Seems like more than the screw is holding the thing on.
by thing I mean where the connector from the arm pulling bar connects to the crank. I was hoping to make it like a row/push workout instead of alternating. This way you would use your lowerback and abs to do more than just stabelize. |

John, sounds like you "invented" a new piece of equipment.
