Still working on my back squats, but was really pleased with this session last week. Got to get a little deeper & will!

Re: Almost to double bodyweight back squat

That's a lot of weight, but you are nowhere near parallel (so it's really a 2BW quarter squat). Is there some injury that's preventing you from going all the way? If not, seeing as you missed 235 by a fair bit (in terms of doing a real squat that breaks parallel), I'd go back to 135, squat it to parallel, and work up.

Re: Almost to double bodyweight back squat

Frank,
Hate to burst your bubble, but I have to agree with Dimitri, you are nowhere near parallel on those squats. Here is a link to Rippetoe's Forum where he has a squat form compilation. It may be useful to watch a few of these videos and read Rip's critiques.

It may or may not be w/f/s, this is Rip we are talking about

Hope this helps

Gonzalo

ouch mani seems to think your age is an excuse to do partial squats. I know you dont feel that way! Now get back in there and go full depth.

Re: Almost to double bodyweight back squat

I can really vouch for full squats. I used to stop an inch above parallel in the early days (it was hard to tell for most people and good by gym standards) but after video taping myself and going to parallel, my legs really started to grow.

Re: Almost to double bodyweight back squat

Thanks for the feedback, I am working on improving the depth already, as I mentioned in the original post.
Tomorrow, it's another day of squats!

Re: Almost to double bodyweight back squat

One of the things I have always found useful about the CF message boards is the honest feedback from the community.
Many people just read the posts, others contribute helpful feedback.
Anyone who takes the time to give to give some clear and insightful information always strengthens the CF community.
Thanks for taking the time!

Good effort Frank, I struggle with all forms of Oly related lifts and can appreciate your striving to getting better.

Corrective squat workout today, focusing on depth

Thanks Paul, I appreciate the struggle for improving technique, like depth and bar position, but I know that working on weak spots forces us to improve.
