Buy first: Kettlebell(s) or rings?

Hi, I'm new to the message board. I've been doing bodyweight only exercises for a while now but am interested in kettlebells and rings too. The trouble is, I don't have a lot of extra money to spend, so my question is: should I invest in one or two kettlebells first or rings? I do have already a bar to do pullups and I also have a place to do dips. Thanks in advance for any advice!

i vote for rings. you can do pullups, dips, supports, muscle-ups, front levers, back levers, knees to elbows, skin-the-cats, hanging leg raises, pushups, handstands, handstand pushups, L-sits, etc, etc.

I would say get the rings because I feel that being able to manipulate your body is more important than manipulating a foreign object.

Rings no doubt about it.

Kettlebell(s) or rings... Tough Choice!

Hate to buck the direction the thread is going in but I would get both - eventually. I'd lean towards getting the KB first to increase your overall strength and conditioning - then get the rings when I could afford them. While rings are a great tool I always turn to the KB for the heavy work on my grip and lungs.

Thanks!

Vote me in on the KBs before rings for beginners. While rings are phenomenal for taking your fitness to the next level, the KB will help you build that base before the next level.

(I will grant that many KB exercises can be done with dumbbells or barbells but swings and some others are just not the same.)

I train a fair number of beginners and they can handle the KB a lot earlier than the rings.

Since you have a PU bar, my vote is KB's, then rings. I have both, use KB's almost daily.

My vote is for a pair of 16 kilo kettlebells! They will become your new friends.

I wouldn't wait long to snag a pair of rings but CrossFit Christmas is right around the corner!

KB. You can't juggle rings. If I were you, I would sell some plasma and get both.
