Over the festive season I didn't have access to the internet at home. So I made my own workouts up keeping it Crossfit. I stayed 3 on 1 off as much as possible. I even threw in a 5km run just 'cos I know I have to. I recorded what I did and now present it as an example of what can be done when you can't get workouts off the net.
http://www.geocities.com/bigg_2046/w...?1059500128818 I pretty pleased with the experience, the workouts aren't as tough as the WOD but neither am I. And I tried a few things that I couldn't remember doing before. Hope you like, comments and critisicm will be much appreciated. |

Grahm-
That is awesome! I love the frying pan swing! I am guessing one of those cast-iron supper heavy jobs? Nice work. You kept things changing. That is pretty hard to do when designing ones own workout. Robb |

Thanks Robb, it is cast iron heavy pan, good for the grip. My Mum asked me "what is going on here?" then walked off!

Graham, thanks for sharing your WODs with us, I am going to borrow one or two of them for sure. We should have a thread for alternate WODs such as this. I travel alot and rely on designing my own bodyweight WODs and incorporate what ever else is available. Its nice try someone elses ideas.
Thanks |

"Running after squats is funny." Succinct and to the point.
Graham, I don't know what's better, the WOD's, or your comments! |

Graham,
Those were great! I wrote them down, and would like to steal a few of those if you don't mind. Thanks, Brad |

Thanks for the encouragement guys, you don't need to ask permission to steal them, go ahead.

Outstanding Graham. I don't have a heavy frying pan, but I do have a heavy cast iron sukiyaki pot. Hmmm.
"mostly downhill for first half, return route obviously mostly uphill" Very astute observation. JW |

I did the same kind of thing on vacation over Christmastime. I'm with George in saying that we need a thread for non-gym and custom WOD ideas.

Non gym-workouts: Saturday I went for a trail run but decided to heat it up a little. I took my pulling harness (a Christmas gift purchased from Ironmind). Ran/walked for 10 minutes, found a rock, carried the rock for 10 minutes, dropped the rock, threw the rock 5 times for distance, ran/walked for 10 minutes, found a log, hitched up the pulling harness, pulled the (darn heavy too) log for ten minutes, dropped the log, did 10 clean&press with it, ran/walked for 10 minutes, back at the car, 20 pushups, 10 (jumping) pullups on the tree, 10 burpees and done. There, a no-gym workout out in God's Gym. I agree with Nic that non-gym non-traditional workouts go well with the functional real-world approach to fitness. Good discussion. More ideas wanted.
