Re: Russian Squat Routine

Yeah, second to Smolov. I went from a 360-370 1RM squat (estimation) to a 450 squat in about 15 weeks. I'm sure "roidzz" would definitely help, but its not necessary if you start at a reasonable weight.

Re: Russian Squat Routine

How is a program that takes my squat from 300 lbs to 335 lbs in 6 weeks while leaving me enough energy to make gains on other big lifts ineffective? I never felt overworked or at risk for injury. I've done linear progression. I liked this better. And guess what's next? Smolov. And not because it's cool, but because frequent heavy back squats at different rep ranges and set numbers each workout gets me results. I also enjoy the challenge. I love going into a workout wondering how the hell I'm going to get through it, and next thing I know I'm walking out smiling.

Re: Russian Squat Routine

For many of lesser character (translation: Recovery ability) Russian stuff is too tough to repair from. I took weight gainer in addition to stuffing my face and survived the smolov. Anything less would be murder for me

Because now the rub together on runs and chaff. I have to wear compression shorts long enough for them now. Sucks

I agree for most people it's complete overkill, I remember Smolov was big on this site some time last year and you had guys with 250 1RM squats doing Smolov which is absurd. They're wasting time really, simple LP would work much better to get their squat up. If my fat, old, broken back *** can get to a 350 squat using LP any able bodied man can easily get north of 400 lbs without some crazy squat program.

I feel like just because people think Russians do this it must be good.
What's LP training?
