UFC 111 predictions

Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy
GSP, Hardy has a puncher's chance.

Interim Heavyweight Championship bout: Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin
Mir, due to experience and a better ground game. It's still a close one, and Carwin could easily take it as well.

Welterweight bout: Ben Saunders vs. Jake Ellenberger
I need to watch some more Ellenberger fights, but Ben needs this win a lot more than Jake does.

Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves
Alves should dominate, but Fitch might wear him down. Alves.

Lightweight bout: Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek
Miller

Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Rory Markham
Diaz

Re: UFC 111 predictions

GSP vs Hardy. GSP by whatever he wants. Literally. I am calling a headkick KO

Mir vs Carwin. Hard to call. Mir is at his best ever and wants Brock REALLY bad. Carwin is a +115 dog, +130 inside the distance (this fight is 5 rounds and is NOT going the distance, guaranteed!), so here is hoping he wins!

Alves vs Fitch by KO

Miller vs Bocek

Almeida vs Brown. I am concerned about Almeidas' debut at 170lbs though. He might gas and if he does he will have his handsfull with Brown.

Diaz vs Markham

Palhares vs Drwal. I hate to go against my countryman, specially against a guy like Palhares (super nice, from very humble begginings, very skilled, and extremelly strong) but I think Drwal will be able to beat him up.

Re: UFC 111 predictions

Man, the Mir-Carwin fight has been so hard to pick. I usually go with experience but Carwin is such a beast that I think he will take whatever punishment Mir can offer him standing, and on the ground all he needs is Mir to not submit him in the first minute and he can ground and pound Mir into oblivion.

I have been leaning towards Mir the whole while but I am sticking to my pick of Carwin.

I wanna see more predictions here. So many people stop by to look but no one lays their picks on the line...

Come on yall, is just for fun...

Carwin has a good punchers chance. I think Mir is a great fighter, but I always remember him being stopped in the first round by Brandon Vera. It was the out of shape Mir, but Brandon Vera? LOL

Re: UFC 111 predictions

Welterweight Championship bout: Georges St. Pierre (c) vs. Dan Hardy: GSP via 2nd round sub. GSP will stand and trade strikes with Dan in the 1st. Just to show he can do it. Then he'll finish the fight in the second.

Interim Heavyweight Championship bout: Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin: Frank via sub in the 1st.

Welterweight bout: Ben Saunders vs. Jake Ellenberger: Don't really care, but going to go with Ben.

Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves: Fitch via Decesion.

Lightweight bout: Jim Miller vs. Mark Bocek: Don't care.

Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Rory Markham: Rory, just becuase I don't like the Diaz brothers.

Re: UFC 111 predictions

Gentlemen, the card has been changed and Alves is out. Fitch v Saunders now in place.

GSP vs. Hardy - GSP, all over the place. I've been impressed with Hardy up to this point. Accurate striking with some oomph behind his shots. Puncher's chance. Unfortunately for Hardy, GSP learned that tough lesson a couple of years ago with Serra and I don't see him making that mistake again.

Mir vs. Carwin - Mir. I think this one could go either way, but Mir has been more dedicated recently and Carwin just hasn't faced anyone all that good. His recovery and ultimate win vs Gonzaga was pretty cool though. Picking Mir, but rooting for Carwin so there can be a rumble of the giants btw him and Brock.

Fitch vs. Saunders - This one could be pretty boring if Saunders can't stop the takedowns. Hopefully he can catch Fitch on the way in with some strikes. Don't think he'll be able to hold the clinch and knee him to death like he's done to others. Fitch by insomnia.

Diaz vs. Markham - Rory has not impressed me with his fight intelligence, even when he wins by spectacular head kick. Diaz may be a bit too weak for 170. Diaz by sub when Rory gift wraps his neck and hands it to Nate.

Almeida vs. Brown - Brown, by something. Too tough and gritty, will fight his way out of sub attempts, wear out Almeida and break him down.

No opinion on the other fights

Re: UFC 111 predictions

I pick Mir and GSP. I am really looking forward to seeing these fights.

BTW, did you guys see that vicious elbow that Jon Jones laid on Vera the other night? Nasty. Broke Vera's cheek in 3 pieces.
