What food do you force yourself to eat?

Am I the only one who eats stuff even if I don't like the taste of it?

I'm lucky enough to like most fruits and vegetables, though getting into the habit of eating as many veggies as I do now takes a bit of work. Once I'm into the swing of it, staying there is comparatively easy.

I try to eat squash, since it's a good source of several vitamins and whenever I see photos of squash dishes it always looks incredible -- butternut squash especially. It's always such a vibrant, happy orange color!

But man, eating it is a whole other ballgame. I've been sitting here at my desk staring down the squash for the last 10 minutes. I've picked at it a bit, but all I've managed to do is make a couple food pyramids with it that I've subsequently played Godzilla to and squished with my fork. I cheated and added a little syrup to the squash to make it taste a little sweeter but it's still bland.

So, anyone else have foods like this?

Of course, there are also those foods that I just flat out loathe: Portabello mushrooms, red delicious apples, and any type of olive. Those never make it to my plate. I'm just talking about those foods that you don't have a specific aversion to but don't really enjoy eating.

Hmm, not sure off hand. I haven't found a food I couldn't eat let that is good for me. Probably something out there I'm sure.

BTW, sounds like a fun why to eat your squash.

I force myself to eat mainly fish. I have forced myself to eat canned tuna and tilapia. It is a good meal but I have never been a big fan of fish.

Re: What food do you force yourself to eat?

Strangely enough I force myself to eat eggs...even though I really don't like them...in fact the only way I can get them in is to blend them up raw with some mixed fruit/berries...If I try to eat more then one cooked...I throw them right back up.

But the one thing I really FORCE myself to intake that I cannot stand isn't really a food (kinda)...BCAA's...I have to shoot them, then pound on something with my fist really really hard to get em down.

*Oh and cucumber is disgusting.

Eggs as well. Usually the last few bites of every meal doesn't really want to go down either.

Broccoli...I can't stand the texture. Eating the florets feels like eating a hair ball. I have to steam them and make sure they're super soft so they slide down faster.

Re: What food do you force yourself to eat?

A 3rd vote for eggs.

I make myself eat a veggie scramble every 2 or 3 weeks. Have to disguise the taste of the eggs by putting either cottage cheese on top, or catsup.

Must add that I can't stand looking at some kinds of eggs either (hard boiled, deviled, over easy, etc.)...makes me almost gag to watch other people eat them.

EDIT: forgot to add....lima beans...yuck!

EDIT: oh, never mind. I hate them and don't even force myself to eat them.
