Soccer season approaches

The off season is fast ending, and I'm attempting to try out for a team that is only a couple of tiers below a professional level. I've been doing 3 on 1 of WODs with 1 CFEndurance running workout a week.

Usually now would be the time for intervals, fartlek and ball skills. From a CF perspective, where would you guys go with it?

Re: Soccer season approaches

You've been doing ball skills all along, right?

In your situation you CF in order to lay the fitness base so that you can train harder and be a more fit soccer player than your opponents. It's time for SPP, Specialized Physical Preparedness, your sport specific training. Do your intervals, explosive movements, fartlek, and ball skills at CF-level intensity, and perhaps one or two met-cons per week only (one short like 10-12 min., the other 20 min.).

You are a specialist in season. Train sport-specific now and bring your CF intensity to your soccer training. Good luck!
