I was diagnosed with meralgia paresthetica (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meralgia_paresthetica) about a year ago and an MRI determined that the location of the entrapment of the LFC nerve was at the hip (not the back).

Unfortunately, the position for the deadlift and the O-lifts (even at lighter weights eg. 60kg)aggravates the pain through my quad (it feels like the muscle is ripping from the bone). My quad has been numb since the original injury over 1 year ago and the sensation has never returned.

I have begun training for an O-lift competition and I'm finding the condition is rapidly worsening. I don't want to be 'white coated' and told to stop and rest, or worse yet, not to do anything at all. So, I'm wondering if other people have experienced this, what they've done, what can be done, or if continuing will result in further neurological damage.
Any help/advice would be appreciated!

and in case anyone is wondering, I'm not fat and don't wear restrictive clothing or have any other of the generally known causes for this injury.
