Recipies for walnuts
Hi,
I was looking at the different nutritional profiles for nuts and was pretty impressed by the fact that the fat/carb/protein ratio for walnuts. They have a good amount of fat and protein and are relativly low in carbs vs other nuts and seeds. But, they don't taste so great because they have a pretty sharp flavor compared to the more mild flavor of almond, for example. Does anyone have any good recipies about how to make them taste better? I was reading that you can fry them in butter and cinnamon, which sounds pretty good. Any other recipies or experience doing what I mentioned above? Thanks. |

Re: Recipies for walnuts
Depends on what you get. Agave nectar will have a mixture of glucose and fructose.
http://www.naturalnews.com/024892_fr...od_health.html http://www.sweetsavvy.com/sweeteners...Agave%20Nectar http://thisprimallife.com/2009/08/ag...friend-or-foe/ http://paleodivas.blogspot.com/2009/...ve-nectar.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agave_nectar I would skip the agave nectar and just stick with maple syrup or honey if you really need some sort of sweetener. Personally, I haven't had any issues going on without either of them. All WFS |

Re: Recipies for walnuts
I do a few things,
I spread avacado on a plate, push walnuts into the spread then glaze it with honey. Another option is a banana, since it won't spread as easily i'll slice it, put a walnut on each slice and put a drop of honey on top. I'll put apple butter or peanut butter in a small flat dish and again layer it with walnuts and some honey. I treat myself to this when i think of it, which is only a few times a year. |
