Hip Resurfacing

Has anyone had a hip resurfaced and able to crossfit? I'm a 50 yr old male and had my rt hip resrface in June '08. I have been cleared to begin to run again. I've been cycling for the past 4 months and am starting to train at a local crossfit affiliate. Any suggestions or thoughts would be welcome.

thanks,

spencer

Re: Hip Resurfacing

Hey there,
I am a CrossFit Kettlebell instructor and have been doing CrossFit WOD's for over a year. I just had my left hip resurfaced 2 weeks ago. Going to take a little while but can't wait to get back on track.

Glad to see there are others with the same.

All the best.
Adam

Re: Hip Resurfacing

Hey Adam,

Congratulations on the new hip. I just got back from the Tour de France and rode some major climbs including the Ventoux. So have no fear you're hip will be as good as new soon. I am just over 1yr post op (6/28/09).

Crossfit has been a major help in getting my strength and range of motion back. I still can't squat below parallel but am getting close. Kettlebell work has definitely been of great help. Let me know if you have any suggestions for specific workouts.

take care,

spencer

So, Spencer ( ), I guess Floyd Landis has nothing on you!

Sounds like great fun. I'm glad to hear you're doing so well.

Hey Bryan!

Floyd would kick my *** up those steep hills How are you doing? Good to hear from you. We had a blast over there. Those Alps and Ventoux are much steeper in person!

Re: Hip Resurfacing

Hey Spencer,

I'm impressed. I watched the race while I was laying around and could not get over how easy they make those mountains look. Must be a huge rush to ride there.

Hello all,

I am 4 weeks post-op today. Right hip resurfacing. Any tips, advice or warnings would be appreciated.

Re: Hip Resurfacing

My brother is about one year PO and doing pretty much anything he wants, although he did finally give up playing basketball against the college kids at age 48! Best of luck to you all.
