95# Power Cleans vs. $25 Craigslist Bar

Winner by unanimous decision - 95# power cleans.

Lesson learned - spend the money and get a good bar. I'm lucky I wasn't doing anything overhead today. I'm accident prone in general, and this could have done some serious damage.

But I think it's pretty awesome that I snapped my bar in half.

You can always use the ends as indian clubs.

New WOD. By bar from Dick's, Clean .5 bw until bar breaks. Time is your score

Actually we use the sleeves as homemade atlas stones on rare occasions.

Melissa 1, Bar 0

Love the picture. Is this another one for the back of a shirt? I think once Tuck sees the picture he's going to want to do something with it. You're going to become a regular CF star if you don't watch yourself.

Heh, after you broke it you should have stacked another few hundred pounds on it, then claimed it was an Eleiko bar you snapped with your bare hands while deadlifting!

Call me crazy, but I'm not comfortable with the idea of suddenly finding a jagged piece of metal with a huge amount of torque acting on it anywhere near my neck.

Um, that doesn't sound crazy to me. I did a ton of OHS and power cleans this morning, so there was quite a bit of bar droppage on the garage floor. After one of my pulls at 95#, I racked, dumped... and the bar snapped in half.

I have the whole thing on video. I stare at the bar in a dumb fashion for about 30 seconds, look at the camera and say, "F***". End scene.

No, I will not be posting the video. And no, there will be no t-shirt.
