New addition to garage, couldn't believe the deal! It's only 2 feet deep so the footprint is pretty small. I can finally squat, etc. from home home with added safety. I Got it from Chip @ Bodytribe in Sacramento, Heck of a great guy! Very unique gym too>> http://www.bodytribe.com/

Dang, sweet. My friend got his cage for a ridiculous price about 6 months ago.
Bodytribe, I was trying to remember them when I was looking for a gym with bumpers around here. Thanks. (Message edited by Blairbob on September 26, 2006) |

after a month of crossfit and refreshing the website over and over every night until i can see the following day's wod, it's definitely time for me and mine to start making some equipment purchases. i might find a local machine shop and see if they can build something similar.
1) jeff, is your rack sturdy enough for kipping pullups or does it wobble? 2) jeff, are the racking pins adjustable or welded in place, and do you know the weight limit for them? 3) anybody, at the depth 2 feet, could you use only a steel frame at the base in lieu of the floor plate so that you could set a bench inside? if not, how much deeper would you recommend? 4) anybody, is there anything else i should consider? |

It does wobble with kipping pull-ups, I think the top bar was more for integrity of the frame but it serves as a pull-up bar too. I made a rafters pull-up bar in my garage from metal piping like others have shown.
The pins are adjustable and rated for 500lb+ I plan on using it for max benchpresses to by sliding a bench into it and resetting the pins. because it's only 2 feet deep the bench ends will be on either end of the base on the floor. I only wish it was taller so that I could perform clean/jerks, etc. overhead. It's less that 7 feet tall. But the hooks can be moved to the outside of the cage and overhead moves can be performed out of the cage. |
